Alumni 100
Sabbatical

Alexa's career has encompassed roles at Ryden, RBS, and the British Council, and studied for her 91´óÉñ at Edinburgh following in her parents' footsteps.

How does it feel to be selected for the Alumni 100 list?

"I am humbled, amazed, and delighted!"

What made you choose to study at the University of Edinburgh Business School?

"Reputation, family connections, and the international nature of the programme. Both of my parents are Edinburgh Alumni. I loved the opportunity to study in Paris and California, and to do a work placement."

What are your memories of studying at the Business School?

"A fabulous, fun, stimulating whirl of new learning and fantastic classmates from over 40 countries, the energy and enthusiasm of team projects. Learning as much from my fellow classmates as through formal lectures, for example, comparing the experience of inflation in Chile, Brazil, and Zimbabwe."

What key thing that you learnt at the Business School do you still rely on today?

"The power of teamwork; together you can do things which, when you first look at them, seem impossible."

What's the one thing you think current students need to develop or learn before entering the modern workplace?

"See the opportunity in everything you do, especially when things are tough. When you look back you will realise that in difficult times you learned most."

Proudest work-related achievement to date?

"Building a highly committed, collaborative, and resilient Change Management community at the British Council, the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Helping to build connections, understanding, and trust between people in the UK and over 100 other countries."

When you look back you will realise that in difficult times you learned most.
