The 5th meeting of the European Network of Selection Researchers organised and hosted by Kristina Potocnik.

Dr Kristina Potocnik recently organised and hosted the 5th meeting of the European Network of Selection Researchers () organised under the auspices of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (). The aim of the meeting was twofold:

  1. to advance our empirical and conceptual knowledge into recent developments in recruitment and selection, and
  2. to bridge scientist-practitioners gaps in new recruitment and selection practices.

Out of 36 submissions, 26 were accepted to be presented during the meeting. These covered a number of topics ranging from research on impression management tactics to applicant faking behaviour, expectations and perceptions of traditional versus technology-based assessment, recruitment and selection procedures and research on new recruitment and selection methods and new constructs, among others. The participants have overwhelmingly praised a strong and rigorous programme.

At the end of the meeting, we concluded that one of the key areas for future research seems to be exploring the role of technology, big data, and AI in assessment, selection, and recruitment. Along these lines, we discussed a potential for the ENESER-wide project on attitudes towards the use of technology, digitalisation, and AI in this field. We are also putting together a special issue that would feature a selection of top papers presented at the meeting.

The next ENESER meeting will take place in June 2020 in Zurich.
