We’re raising a glass to two of our students who triumphed at the recent Marketing Society Scotland Awards.
Sarah and Ailsa at the Marketing Society Scotland Awards

Sarah Baillie, a third year Business with Marketing student, won the Star Marketing Student Award, which comes with a three-month paid placement at drinks firm Edrington-Beam Suntory.

Fellow student Ailsa Henderson, a third year Business Management student, was runner-up for the award.

Both saw off competition from students nominated from colleges and universities across Scotland, after a day of team tasks and individual interviews, judged by a panel representing senior business figures and government.

Sarah said:

I’m very much looking forward to working with the Edrington-Beam Suntory team over the summer on their marketing and PR events. I really enjoyed working on the strategic and creative tasks at the Apprentice Day, having had some experience in alcohol and events marketing.

Ailsa said:

I’ve had an amazing time. This was a great opportunity for me to learn more about marketing in practice, working on live Edrington-Beam Suntory briefs, and gaining valuable skills in teamwork and pitching.

Dr Mary Ho, lecturer in marketing, said:

“Congratulations to both Sarah and Ailsa, in achieving the accolade of the top two marketing students in Scotland. This is a tremendous achievement for them personally but also for the whole Marketing Group at the Business School. This reinforces the strength of our marketing programme and courses, and the quality and motivation of our students.

“Sarah and Ailsa flourished in my Marketing Strategy and Marketing & Society courses this year, and I am so very proud of them! This award is testament to their hard work and I’m sure that both will go on to be successful marketers of the future!”
