In this joint event with the Chartered Banker Institute and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment we heard from both sides of the European divide.
Acknowledged authority on the European project, Graham Bishop dismissed claims the UK could leave the EU and secure a free trade deal without free movement of people as ‘project fantasy’.
And he argued the loss of Foreign Direct Investment could cripple the country’s economy.
Meanwhile, speaking in a personal capacity, Danny Corrigan, Chief Executive Officer of the CME European Trade Repository celebrated the founding principles of the EU, but said the European single currency had been its undoing.
He warned the Euro was leading Europe on the path to an economic catastrophe which would sound the death knell for European integration.
