The programme joins the MSc in Human Resource Management to gain a five-year accreditation from the industry institute.
The accreditation means the standard of the programme is recognised as equivalent to the CIPD Advanced Diploma – the highest level of CIPD professional qualifications and an internationally-recognised qualification in the HR profession.
Students joining the programme in September 2015 will benefit from automatic student membership of the institute, and gain access to an international network of HR practitioners through regular events.
On successful completion of the programme, students can progress to professional membership of the CIPD. This entitles them to use designatory letters Assoc CIPD to demonstrate their professional standing within the HR community and commitment towards professional standards.
With growing membership and recognition for the CIPD across the globe, the institute can also support students in finding international opportunities.
Dr Charmi Patel, Director of the MSc in International Human Resource Management, said:
“We are very proud to see the MSc IHRM accredited by the CIPD
“We are committed to equipping our students with the people management skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly globalised and culturally diverse business environment, and contribute to international organisations.
“The CIPD accreditation will allow us to build on the success our graduates already enjoy in finding roles with leading employers, to give them even greater access to an international practitioner network, and use a globally-recognised professional designation to accelerate their career aspirations.”
John Cunningham, Head of Qualifications at the CIPD, said:
“The CIPD is delighted to have reviewed and subsequently approved the MSc IHRM at the University of Edinburgh Business School. As the world of work continues to change it is important that University programmes like this develop the highly skilled HR professionals that business so badly needs to help drive success and prosperity for the benefit of us all”
“This CIPD approval will allow all students taking this programme access to a wide range of CIPD benefits and services that will help during their studies; factsheets, newsletters, journals, events – both nationwide and delivered at local Branch level, social networks and of course industry research to name a few. Upon completion successful students will have the professional recognition from the CIPD that is so important when trying to secure employment and start a successful career in HR.”
