The recognition means the standard of the programme is equivalent to a Chartered Banker Diploma, a world-class professional standard for banking industry professionals.
Students joining the programme in 2015 will benefit from automatic student membership of the Institute, gain access to a global network of fellow banking scholars and engage with working professionals through regular events.
Programme graduates will also be eligible to use the professional designation ‘Chartered Banker’ and the ‘MCIBS’ identification, to demonstrate their commitment to standards of excellence when pursuing career opportunities.
The accreditation follows a period of significant success for the School in the area. It’s MSc in Finance and Investment recently joined an elite of international programmes by entering the top thirty in the Financial Times’ Master in Finance Rankings.
Meanwhile the school’s accountancy and finance programmes were also placed 45th in the world – up two places on 2014 – in the QS University rankings by subject.
Fernando Moreira, Director of the MSc in Banking and Risk programme, said:
“We are very pleased to see our programme recognised by the Chartered Banker Institute.
“We are committed to equipping our students with the skills and extensive knowledge they need to become responsible banking professionals, able to think critically and make informed decisions in everyday practice.
“With this accreditation we can now also provide them with even greater opportunities to develop their professional networks during their time here, and a globally-recognised professional designation to accelerate their career progression on graduation.”
