Christmas at the Botanics
For the fourth time, the Royal Botanic Garden is filling up its space with an array of colourful Christmas lights, festive installations, and the sound of holiday classics. You can stroll under the flickering lights with a lovely mulled wine or hot chocolate, bound to make for some beautiful photos. It makes for a lovely evening activity!
The Chocolatarium
If you have a sweet tooth and some free time in your schedule, the Chocolatarium is a great way to spend a day! They offer 90-minute fully guided tours of everything chocolate. For the holidays this year, you can learn how to make your very own Christmas chocolate bar to gift to someone or eat yourself.
During this experience, you will also have the opportunity to try festive flavoured hot chocolate and a variety of other sweet flavours. The space has been designed to ensure the safety of its visitors. You can book a slot online to visit their location, which is just by the Royal Mile.
Doodles
Want to get in touch with your creative side over the holiday break? Not sure what to get someone as a last-minute gift? Doodles Ceramic Workshop offers ceramic painting, which allows you to pick one of their pre-modelled pieces to paint and decorate yourself. You can pre-book painting slot times on their website, or alternatively purchase take-home kits.
Stockbridge Market
If you are free on a Sunday, the Stockbridge Market is a lovely place to pop by. Open from 10am to 5pm, the outdoor market hosts a variety of small speciality businesses. From quality meats, cheeses, and organic vegetables to local Scottish art, you will be sure to find something you fancy. They have implemented a one-way system to ensure the safety of their visitors. Afterwards, I recommend a nice stroll through Dean Village, which is only a short walk from the market.
Gingerbread House Decorating at the Cauldron
In my opinion, you are never too old to decorate gingerbread. The Cauldron Edinburgh thinks the same! This year, they are hosting gingerbread house decorating, accompanied by your choice of mulled wine or a nice cup of hot chocolate. With tickets starting at Β£18, you receive a pre-assembled house with an ice-cream cone tree, icing, and an assortment of sweets for decoration. It is a great way to spend an afternoon with some friends in the city.
